Princess is a 3 year old female Chi who miraculously survived being mauled around her neck by a large dog. Princess was brought to the OC Shelter by her owners immediately after she was mauled by the dog. The owners were poor and asked the shelter to euthanize their dog because they could not afford to bring her to a vet. Since Princess was considered treatable, the shelter treated her wounds and gave the owners 4 days to change their mind. The owners were given several additional days but never came back for their dog.
Princess snapped at the OC Shelter vet, so she is now a rescue only dog. Princess has since recovered from the trauma of almost being killed by a larger dog and she is doing better at the shelter. She can be handled and carried around by the volunteers but she still doesn't like the vet.
Princess is doing great in rescue and will soon be available for adoption. I would place her into a home with kids 10 and up only just because I don't have little ones. Due to her previous trauma I do not know how much patience she would have if pushed. She is a doll of a dog who loves to cuddle follow you around everywhere. Her neck is well on its way to healing up. If you are interested please provide some info and we will let you know when she will be ready.
If you are unable to adopt but would like to donate to her care we would be appreciative.
Update:
Well, we still have Princess. She has completly healed up and is a wonderful dog (you can view her updated pictures at

She now has another issue though that needs to be taken care of. I noticed a lump on her side and took her in to see the doc. She now has a hernia that needs to be repaired ): We have 200.00 towards the 300.00 dollar vet bill. She will be going in on 2-7-08 for her surgery.
